Just opened Downtown is a quick, portable lunch option! Chubby Duck opened this week and I had a chance to have some food and talk with Certified Chef Ian Diem. Chef Ian, a retired culinary arts teacher, American Culinary Federation member, classically trained Michigan man who has travelled the world to come back to Detroit and open Chubby Duck's second location. The concept is based on Te Maki, a traditional hand roll, but a larger size! Choose your rice (white, brown, or both) and one of their many cone options or create your own, this delicious cone is light, healthy, and delicious. I tried the Krabby Cone (Krab salad, green onions, sesame seeds, daikon, carrots, avocado & cucumber) and the Shiitake Mushroom Cone (Shiitake mushrooms, green onion, sesame seeds, dailkon, carrots, cucumbers & avocado). Both were excellent! Just pull back the paper and eat away! All the sauces are made in house and the ingredients are fresh. Try a combo for $12 that includes a one, salad and a drink.
