Yesterday the J’adore Detroit team had the pleasure of meeting with Punch Bowl’s Events Team and Head Chefs to get a sneak peek of their new menu. Hugh Acheson, nationally renowned southern-inspired chef, has been developing this menu with the Punch Bowl Culinary Team.

Our afternoon started with a full tour of the space lead by Jason Dritsan – the Events Manager for Punch Bowl Social in Detroit.

He showed us the incredible spaces and the countless activities you can enjoy with friends and family – bowling, darts, karaoke, corn hole, ping-pong, shuffle board, and all the TVs your heart desires.

Then it was time for a punch bowl (when in Rome, right?).  It was unique but not unapproachable. See the “Bachelor’s Bowl”. Yum.

Next up, our amazing server Raymond brought out multiple dishes from their new menu. As he did, the Chef explained every plate in detail, down to where each ingredient was sourced. Not the typical bar food you’ve experienced in the past, huh?

The Black Eyed Pea Hummus was so unique and so delicious. A crowdpleaser we loved so much, we got another one to take home!

Pimento Cheese topped with bacon. Wow.

Mushroom biscuits and gravy. There is a biscuit in there, promise, it's just covered with the gravy deliciousness.

The Grain Bowl is a must - a little crunchy from the Farro and spicy from the peppers. This was one of our absolute favorites.

The Fried Chicken Biscuit with house-made dough and a honey drizzle is exactly what you need on a Sunday morning. The twice baked potatoes were cooked and crisped to perfection.

Everything was fresh, distinct with full flavors and made with a purpose - not just a haphazard selection of food that could be good for a crowd.

Just as Chef Sergio Romero said:

Gastro-diner, to me, means preparing elevated comfort food in a way that appeals to the foodie, the peasant and the prince. We cast a wide net at Punch Bowl Social, which helps me to make a broad spectrum of guests happy”

So, do yourself a favor and experience this Gastro-diner for yourself. Want brunch instead of dinner? Cool, they have a killer brunch menu too.

Want something a little lighter? Cool, Punch Bowl has juices. That’s right, juices.

Just want to stop by for a drink at one of their full bars while your friends attempt karaoke? Do that, and get one of their house cocktails.

Punch Bowl Social is on 331 Broadway Street, in Downtown Detroit.
