Cointreau blessed the Detroit scene this Tuesday with a bartending competition hosted in the swanky ambiance of The Skip.
For the price of a mere RSVP email, guests enjoyed a completely free event. The eight participating bartenders created and named an original cocktail using Cointreau as an ingredient.
My personal favorite name; “The Real Housewives of Oakland County”, a delightful pink drink garnished with cucumber. Guests voted for their favorite beverage using a provided coin to tally the votes. My coin went to a Cointreau, pineapple and lime popsicle with a color coordinated paper straw in place of a traditional popsicle stick. Food was provided, the menu; Roasted Chicken, Kale Caesar Salad, and the tastiest roasted brussels sprouts I’ve ever had. The lovely Cointreau Girls served the competing cocktails in eight rounds, and a house margarita was available at the bar, throughout the night.
So basically, it was the coolest (and free!) thing to do on a Tuesday night / any night. Usually kept under the radar to avoid too many people, these posh-without-a-pricetag sponsored events happen frequently around the city.
During the 2016 auto show, Lexus hosted an event in Eastern Market catered by a local chef and served by Detroit City Distillery. Concept 56 and Jagermeister curated the vibey warehouse event, “Plexus”, in mid July. These events are IDEAL for dates, girls night out, and balling on a budget.
