DETROIT BLOWS OPENED THEIR DOORS A MONTH AGO AND IS ALREADY MAKING SOME MAJOR WAVES IN THE DETROIT SCENE (SEE WHAT WE DID THERE?) WE POPPED IN TO GET OUR HAIR DID LAST WEEK AND WE'RE COMPLETELY OBSESSED. FROM THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL, THE DESIGN OF THEIR GORGE SPACE, TO THE TIME AND ATTENTION THEY GIVE EACH CLIENT - EVERYTHING IS DONE WITH INTENTION, GOOD INTENTION.

Detroit Blows co-founders and epic girl-gang members, Nia Batts & Katy Cockrel developed the idea for Blows out of their frustration of not having a convenient place to get their hair done in Detroit - something we've been annoyed with for years! People are living down here, people's jobs are down here, so why should we have to drive to Ferndale to get a dece blowout?

Blows is committed to the belief that the best way to shape the city's narrative is through building sustainable businesses within the city limits. Not only are they helping the city as a whole, but individuals in The D too. A buck from every blowout service and a percentage of retail sales go to philanthropies around Detroit. Detroit Grows, the companies philanthropic arm, provides micro-grants to female entrepreneurs and invests in programs that help women enter or reenter the workforce. Some seriously powerful stuff.

Now onto the HAIR! The blowout itself ranges from a half hour to an hour depending on hair length - so you're in and out and looking fab in a relatively short period of time. They have five base styles you can choose from -  we would legit wear any of them. They are simple, versatile and current. Overall, the blowout was great and lasted four days because we bought the ABSOLUTE BEST DRY SHAMPOO post blowout.

The space is filled with light, clean aesthetics and pops of orange. And let's not forget the really important things - really comfortable chairs and complimentary bubbly.  We welcome spending our lunch break at Blows.

Don't need your hair done? They offer a variety of services from nails to eyebrows and make-up applications. All products are non-toxic and eco and ethically conscious - curated by the Founder of Conscious Commerce and bad ass babe, Babs Brayton. Everything from the products to the services are seriously affordable. We're talking $40 for a blowout - much better than our usual $55 at other salons. Not to mention an express manicure for only $15! It honestly doesn't get any better than that.
