This Sunday, March 12th, the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Corktown kicks off the booze fueled extravaganza of a holiday.

The official Facebook page says:

“59th Annual St Patrick's Day Parade

SUNDAY MARCH 12th 2017

Michigan Ave. from 6th St. to 14th St., Detroit

Perhaps one of Michigan’s most renowned St. Patrick’s Day events is Detroit’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This family-friendly event is sure to entertain all who attend with the various floats. The parade route is on Michigan Avenue through historic Corktown. If you’re planning to go, it may be a good idea to arrive a bit early for the best vantage point.

7am:

CorkTown Streets start filling up with party people. Tailgating / Bars / Pubs / Beer Tents / Festivals

10am:

CorkTown Race

12:30pm:

Parade Starts

The Parade, which includes marching and pipe & drum bands, color guard units, floats, clowns, novelty groups and marching units, moves west on Michigan Ave., passes the reviewing stand and disperses at 14th Street, approximately 2 hours later.

Once the Parade disperses its back to a streetwide party!

Dress:

Please be as festive in Irish colors and Costumes as possible. The Greener the better as far as we are concerned!

Parking:

Best Parking is on the North side of Michigan Ave. Guests begin arriving as early as 7am when the Bars / Pubs / Street side Beer tents and festivals start to open their gates. Adults will find all kinds of watering holes to wet their whistles!

Be sure to check out the Giant Beer tents at Michigan Ave and Vermont St.

Everyone please be safe and smart. Lock your cars. Don't leave anything of value in site. Make note of where you parked. Arrive early for best parking. Dress for the weather. Come be IRISH for the day.”

J’adore’s unofficial advice:

Get to the parade sometime before 12:30.

Have fun dressing the part: think green wigs, face paint, "kiss me i'm Irish" tees, and those cheesy beer goggles if you’re really getting into it.

Check out Metrotime's pictures from last year's parade day for inspiration!

I'm obsessed with this girl's green disco buns and check out that guy's green beard!

Watch the parade with your favorite peeps on Michigan Ave and make some new friends while you’re there! Nothing says community like partying in the street with the whole city.

Now that you and your crew have caught the party spirit, merrily bar hop your way through Corktown to the official party tent located at 2000 Michigan Ave. Make sure you stop at Nancy Whiskey, it’s a tiny bit off the beaten path but well worth the walk - this Corktown staple is the place to be on parade day!

My F*ckin’ Party at Grenadier Club

L U C K Y C H A R M s at Leland City Club

My personal pick, City Club, is a grimey in a good way venue that will be open all night long. You can expect an outrageously good time that will feel like an underground, early 2000s rave scene. The club has so many rooms it’s a surreal experience. By the end of the night it feels like you’ve been to five different venue. Prismviews will be there - definitely one of my favorite artists in the city, you have to check it out!

have fun j'adore readers!
