WHETHER YOU'RE A STUDENT, WORKING REMOTELY OR JUST NEED A QUIET SPACE TO FIGURE OUT YOUR LIFE...THESE ARE THE TOP SPOTS IN DETROIT TO GET SH*T DONE!

NEW ORDER COFFEE - BRUSH PARK

With it’s recent opening in July, New Order Coffee has become a popular destination for colorful java drinks inspired by your favorite childhood cereal. Order up a crunch berry cereal milk latte, or skip the sugar rush and opt for a regular cup o’ joe or Nitro cold brew. New Order Coffee has plenty of space and a relaxing environment perfect for the daily grind. The location even features a small conference room perfect for team meetings or a group study sesh.

THE RED HOOK - WEST VILLAGE

One of my favorite locations to get work done is in West Village at The Red Hook. I usually head here when I am alone: there are plenty of small tables and outlets galore. It’s also a great space to grab a coffee for a one-on-one meeting. It’s a bright, simple set-up with little distraction. A great pick if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of downtown Detroit.

ANTHOLOGY COFFEE - CORKTOWN

If you want great, pour over coffee, look no further than Anthology Coffee. The atmosphere is no frills and distraction-free, perfect for cranking out a few emails or a project. Don’t expect to stay here all day. While the coffee is great, they only offer few bites, coffee, and tea.

Kresge Court

KRESGE COURT IN DETROIT INSTITUTE OF ARTS - MIDTOWN

Tucked away inside the Detroit Institute of Arts, I head to Kresge Court when I’m looking for a little inspo. The space was originally designed as an outdoor courtyard, and then covered with a glass ceiling in the 1960’s making for an incredibly well lit and expansive room. The tactfully decorated space features a mix of traditional and contemporary designs that are comfortable and practical. When you need a break, head up to the casual service restaurant in Kresge Court for a salad or sandwich, or walk through the DIA to spark your creativity (residents of Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb County receive free general admission).

Great Lakes Coffee

GREAT LAKES COFFEE - MIDTOWN

Great Lakes is a classic go-to for anyone in the midtown area. The spot is most often packed with Wayne State students and remote workers- a great location if you want to collaborate with classmates or get some light work done. If you’re planning on a major work session, head there early to secure a spot and try to stay away during weekends (especially during the school year).

Ashe Supply

ASHE SUPPLY CO. - RIVERTOWN

If you love Ashe Supply Company’s Downtown location on Broadway, check out their new second spot in Rivertown. The foot traffic here is pretty light, so you’re sure to find enough space to settle down and crank out a few hours of work. Great coffee, tasty bakery bites, a cool vibe, and accessibility make this a great choice for any type of work/study.

ASTRO COFFEE - CORKTOWN

For some of my favorite coffee in the city and a perfect rainy day atmosphere, check out Astro Coffee. The spot is my go-to when I need to focus without distraction. Astro Coffee doesn’t offer wifi, so while it’s a great location to get some dedicated reading done, it’s not conducive to answering emails and day-to-day workflow.
