THE DAYS ARE GETTING LONGER AND THE WEATHER IS FINALLY GETTING WARMER - YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS! THE BEST TIME OF YEAR IN DETROIT IS THE TIME OF DAY-DRINKING (DARTYING) AND WE HAVE JUST THE LIST FOR YOU TO EXPLORE ON YOUR DARTYING EXCURSIONS THROUGHOUT THE CITY. FROM BOOZE TO GRUB, WE HAVE GATHERED THE BEST HOT SPOTS FOR DAYLIGHT FROLICKING WHILE LIBATING.
HERE IS WHAT WE RECOMMEND:
Old Miami: Two words: Lawn goals. This old veteran’s dive bar in Midtown has the deceivingly (from the outside looks of it) best lawn darties, with plenty of seating, grass, coy fish and live music. Get a beer, a tan, and chillax in this secret sanctuary.
Ottava Via: A classier endeavour, this Corktown trattoria has a great backdoor patio that goes perfectly with Bocce Ball and a bottle of rose. Order a pizza to split with the group and you’re set for a few hours of fun in the sun! (*pinkies up*)
Takoi: A Phoenix rising from the ashes in Corktown, Takoi is debuting a new kick-ass patio in the near future (weather permitting). Get the Ice Cold Brueger cocktail on draft and forget about your worries and beyond.
Two James: Across the street from Takoi, Two James has a pleasant atmosphere with a garage door that opens to let some amazing breeze in on hot days with refreshing cocktails and an array of live music. Their circle bar has the best people watching views as well, because what is dartying without that?
The Bronx Bar: Never bash the Bronx with their famous darty patio. They open early and stay open late so you can party all day long and even have a pool table. Hungry? Get a burger and deep fried mushrooms to keep you in check after a brewsky (or five).
Queens Bar: From the owners of Bronx Bar, is Queens Bar in downtown Detroit. Queens Bar has a stellar patio and they specialize in board games and “beer and a shot” boozery to keep hours of entertaining alive and well. Street parking is free on Sunday’s so it’s a double-win.
Checker Bar: Downtown Detroit’s finest for a shot of Tully and a Hi-Life, Checker Bar is the perfect place to day party. A quaint patio and on-point food will keep you fueled up all day. If you get board, head upstairs to the new Pop + Off-World Arcade/Pizza Bar to play some games with some “za” for a bit.
Batch Brewing: Another Corktown destination, Batch Brewing has “DARTY” written all over it. They make all of their own beer which is perfect if you want to try a few different kinds during the day to see what they’re all about, and have great food to go along with it as well.
Woodbridge Pub: A brunch classic, this is the best spot to sip on mimosas and Bloody Mary’s all day and lose track of time. They have a uniquely-yummy brunch menu and are super laid back so you’re able to eat, drink, and relax on their patio.
Two Way Inn: Open (and likely haunted) since the late 1800’s in Hamtramck, this dive bar focuses on simple drinks and great company. They open by 11am so you can start dartying early to beat the crowd!
Honest John’s: Perfect for the ALL DAY dartier, this Midtown dive bar has brunch on the weekends and serves food from open ‘til 2am. The small patio in back is mighty and magnificent to drink in, because we all know that sobriety sucks.
PJ’s Lager House: This lager house in Corktown is known for its grungy (but great) live bands and “shot and a beer” offerings. With a revamped back patio, this is the perfect place to get your darty jam on while sippin’ on libations.
MotorCity Wine: Wine not? This wine bar has one of the best patios in Corktown and gets some serious music going. The energy from live music goes hand-in-hand with the crowd which makes a divine experience, especially on sunny days with a bottle of wine spilt between friends, amiright?
WE WISH YOU ALL OF THE BEST IN YOUR DETROIT DARTYING VENTURES AND HOPE THESE BARS DO THE TRICK. AS ALWAYS, PLEASE DARTY RESPONSIBLY.
