To shampoo or not shampoo? That is the question. We know from hair experts that shampooing your hair daily is not the best idea, so we are digging into what dry shampoo is, how to use it, and what to use that suits your needs. SEE WHAT WE THINK:

WHAT IT IS AND HOW IT WORKS:

This amazing life changing product is designed to absorb excess sebum and other oils from your roots, leaving it smelling and looking fresher.

It’s a powder or fast-drying spray that provides a water-free option for cleansing your hair. Although people familiar to them already know of the spray form, some are also made in paste form, and some are available in different shades so you can match your dry shampoo to your hair color.

WHY IT’S AWESOME:

  • Shampoo less frequently. Retain your natural moisture.

  • Stretch out a blow-out.  Stretch your dollar and save your look.

  • Conserve your hair color. Keep your vibrance and your investment.

  • Save time. ‘Case we all know we’ve already spent about 2 years total of blow-drying time wasted in our lives thus far...

  • Eliminate odor. Get that squeaky-clean smell to easily start your day.

  • Add volume. Second-day hair, but better.

  • Refresh a style or curls. Spring up your hair with a quick refresh to restyle.

  • Soothe an irritated scalp. Great for post-color treatment therapy and helps avoid using heat products that irritate skin on the reg.

  • Add texture. Perfect compliment for a long-lasting up-do to get some extra texture and grip.

WHAT TO AVOID &  WHAT WE RECOMMEND TO FIX IT::

  • Unpleasant Residue. Our favorite dry-shampoos are free of gunky build-up. We also are conscious of hair color, making sure that if you’re a brunette, the residue does not leave white streaks!

Our fix:  Klorane (~$20) for a beautiful residue-less experience while making your blowout last or Batiste, Beautiful Brunette, (~$7)

  • Stickiness. The last thing you want is 3-day-old hair that sticks to various objects. If this happens, find a different one that suits you.

Our fix: Dove Dry Shampoo (~$4)

  • Unwanted Scent. Although this one is personal, your hair is close to your nose so while testing out different dry-shampoos, MAKE SURE you like the smell before spraying it all up in your hair for you and everyone else to endure.

Our fix: Captain Blankenship (~$25)

  • A too-heavy formula. What’s worse than dirty hair? Flat roots to go along with it. Lightweight formulas are available, so there are options for you if you need a lighter formula.

Our fix: Macadamia Professional ($20)
