WE KNOW THE DETROIT DRINK SCENE WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT ON COCKTAILS, BUT THERE'S SOMETHING TO BE SAID WHEN ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS BREWERIES IN MICHIGAN, AND AMERICA FOR THAT MATTER, COMES TO DETROIT. WE POPPED IN ON OPENING DAY TO SEE FIRST HAND JUST HOW AWESOME THE BEER, FOOD AND SPACE AT THE NEW FOUNDERS IN MIDTOWN REALLY WAS.
First things first, the BEER. Founders has always been known for their great beer. Hell, Michiganders have been driving across the state to Grand Rapids just to get the freshest taste for years. Well now we don't have to. We can get our All Day IPA's & seasonal cult following CBS brew, in just a short drive over to Midtown. Not only is the beer great, but even on opening day with a line out the door, you didn't have to wait long for one. Founders staff had their operations down, it took less than 10 minutes to get a brew.
Nothing screams brewery food quite like Founders Beer Cheese. This delicious mix of cheese and beer paired with their homemade potato chips and crostinis is truly a magical experience. But let's get real, all of their food is delicious. Vegetarian with food allergies? They are happy to accommodate. All their food is fresh, well thought out and goes great with whatever beer you decide to imbibe.
We're super down with the space. It's gorgeous and appropriately sized at 1,400 square feet to handle the masses. There are essentially three main areas to chill in: Inside tap room, back brewery room & outside space equipped with a fireplace and heaters. Even on the coldest of days the outside is super cozy especially once you get your beer jacket on. One of the best parts? You have a clear view of their brewing operations whether you're hanging out inside or out.
Founders is located at 456 Charlotte St. and will be open daily from 11 am to midnight Sunday-Wednesday and 11 am to 1 am Thursday through Saturday.
Welcome to Detroit, Founders! We're so happy to have you!
