Black Friday in Detroit #shopsmall

J’adore Detroit is challenging you to shop local this holiday season.

Support Detroit’s economy and make a conscious effort to buy holiday gifts at small businesses and local artisan markets. Skip the Black Friday madness and opt for a day of shopping with family or friends in Detroit.

Pot & Box’s HLDY MRKT is Friday, November 25th from 6-10 PM at the Jam Handy. I can’t wait to check out this indie-holiday market, the facebook event page has preview posts showcasing what will be available- I want it all!

Make a day of it and explore all of the shops Midtown has to offer before you head to the Pot & Box market. Will Leather Goods on Second and Willis is a great place to start; they offer quality leather goods backed with a lifetime guarantee.

After, go to Nora on Cass; they have the most adorable trinkets in town. Next door, Hugh is the male counterpart of Nora, it’s the perfect place to find a gift for the hard-to-shop-for guy on your list. Don’t forget about your furry friend, find a gift for your four legged family member at Cass Corridog.

Follow the storefronts to the Canfield shops; Third Man Records, Filson’s, City Bird, Nest, and Shinola. City Bird is my favorite place to find low price point gifts, the shop is filled with things you always hope to get but don’t buy for yourself like fun stationery, luxe candles, and charming jewelry.

Have dinner at one of the delicious restaurants within walking distance; Motor City Brewing Works, The Jolly Pumpkin, or the Midtown classic- Traffic Jam and Snug.

Now, you are finally ready to enjoy an evening of shopping and socializing at the Pot & Box HLDY MRKT!

Stay tuned for next week’s post about the Detroit Urban Craft Fair and more Small Business shopping ideas.

We want to see where you shop!
