From Tulle Dresses to Daring Red: Fall/Winter Trends
WHILE YOU MAY THINK FALL AND WINTER FASHION IS ALL ABOUT GREY SWEATERS AND PUFFY COATS, THE FALL/WINTER 17-18 COLLECTIONS SHOWED A VERSATILE AND INTERESTING SIDE OF THE UPCOMING SEASON.
Whether you're looking for a comfy, go-to everyday outfit or a fancy dress for special occasions, you’ll find inspiration and outfit tips from the runways of Elie Saab, Burberry, Chanel and Balmain.
Probably couldn’t start off our list with any other trend. With the rich color palette (from indigo blue to deep purple and light lavender) the tulle overlays and the low cut silhouettes, Elie Saab and Dior created a modern princess vibe. Although it might seem hard to pull off on a casual day, you can easily combine elements of this trend with more laid back, edgy accessories such as a silver cuff or a sturdy leather jacket.
OUTFIT TIP: an embroidered midnight blue top with a tulle midi skirt and a traditional black leather jacket
Makeup & Hair: A classic smokey eye makeup look or a cool toned purple lipstick with a messy bun would look amazing with this style.
A classic combination, whether it’s the blending the two colors together with patterns and grey shades or featuring a harsh contrast between black and white. Outfits from Chanel and Burberry mix all-white looks with timeless black details such as masculine blazers high heeled boots and headbands, and to make the outfits even more interesting, the designers played with fabrics such as soft lace and wool. Another thing I love about this trend is that it’s super easy to recreate and offers a clean and minimalist, yet fashion forward outfit choice.
OUTFIT TIP: A smart casual white dress with a checked blazer and black accessories, such as black boots and a tote bag.
MAKEUP & HAIR: Since this is a more elegant trend as well, match it with a winged eyeliner and sleek straight hair.
Bohemian an indie outfits don’t seem to go out of style, and I can understand why. These looks have something very modern and a bit dark about them with the ruffled leather details and the thigh high boots. To make it more fall and winter appropriate, fashion houses such as Balmain completed the looks with shoulder pads, fringes and high neck details.
OUTFIT TIP: A beige cold-shoulder top with faux a snakeskin skirt, a suede jacket and matching brown boots.
HAIR & MAKEUP: A braided updo and taupe or caramel lips would go perfectly with the bohemian trend.
If you started to get bored of the classic Little Black Dresses, you will fall in love with this twist. A mesh overlay with asymmetric cut outs, a unique neckline and elegant midi length is the perfect mix of classy and futuristic, not to mention t’s a versatile style that you can easily dress up or down. For everyday wear, choose a distressed silhouette (such as a T-shirt or sweater dress) and wear it with a pair of Chelsea boots and a leather jacket, and for a Friday night out or a special occasion, wear it with a pair of heels and a metallic clutch.
OUTFIT TIP: A frilled mesh T-shirt dress with black lace-up boots and an envelope bag.
HAIR & MAKEUP: It’s time to experiment with the wet hair and geometric eyeliner trend to complete this daring look.
OUTFIT TIP: A chunky knit red sweater with a checked pencil skirt and a classy pair of high-heeled boots.
HAIR & MAKEUP: Rock a glossy eye with nude lips (or a matching red lipstick if you feel adventurous) and a high ponytail or messy, wavy hair to complete a head-to-toe red look.
