Whatever Fest is the epitome of Detroit’s music scene- a little grunge and lots of fun. On Saturday, May 20th over 40 acts will be playing from noon to 3 a.m. at the Tangent Gallery.
Pre-Sale wristbands can be purchased for $6 at The Bottom Line Coffee House or Third Wave Music in Midtown, Detroit. Wristbands will be $10 at the door.
Originally, Whatever Fest started as an annual house party at the Hyesta Apartments thrown by two Wayne State students, Brent Szczygielski and Sophocles Sapounas. Now in its seventh year, Whatever Fest is a legitimate festival at a legitimate venue- how Detroit is that?!
In addition to great music, you can expect food trucks, vendors and a lot of DIY art. Drifter Coffee will be keeping the concert caffeinated and Grillwich Tot Stop and Comfort Cafe will be serving delicious eats.
Detroit’s favorite fun and funky photo booth, What’s Snappin, will be on site. Live artists will be stationed around the venue doing their thing.
Bana Kabalan and Eleanor Oster are in charge of the installations, I can’t wait to see what the talented duo come up with. Their past work has been featured in the DIA’s Day of the Dead exhibit. Bana’s outfits are an art installation in themselves, talk about a Detroit style icon!
Shout out to all the friends playing! Make sure you see these very important acts!
