Get Ready for These Exciting Inner State Events

Brace yourself for the upcoming Inner State events taking place in 2017. There is plenty to see, do, and experience in Detroit. For example, May 27-29 is when the Movement Electronic Music Festival along with partner 1xRUN to host Hamburg contemporary artist 1010 (tenten) in Hart Plaza. He will do a visual takeover of the space and showcase the portal-like murals he’s best known for. You won’t want to miss this incredible opportunity to see a hot street artist doing what he does best.

Part of Campus Martius will be transformed by the artist. There will also be live DJs as well as programming from Quicken Loans. The event is free and kid-friendly so feel free to bring the whole family to witness 1010 in action.

The artist is a fan of techno. It inspires his art. After visiting Detroit last year, 1010 wanted to come back and see what the city had to offer.

It’s a good thing he did because Detroit residents and visitors have an opportunity to see the artist in action. A big turn-out is expected for the free event. 1010 works out of a studio in Berlin, Germany when he isn’t in Detroit.

More 1010 at the Inner State Gallery

If you can’t get enough of 1010, you’re in luck because his hand-crafted editions will be featured along new painting in “Fields,” a solo exhibition that opens on Friday, May 26th. It’s taking place at the Inner State Gallery. As part of the 2017 Artist in Residence Program, 1010 is a name Detroit is getting to know very well.

A New York Exhibit with Detroit Roots

If you’d like to check out Detroit Grind at New York City’s Rush Arts Gallery, you’ll see work from 1xRUN alumni until May 19th. Familiar names such as Olayami Dabls, Syndey G. James, Tiff Massey, Nic Notion, Tylonn Sawyer, and Rashaun Rucker make up this group exhibition.

The African American artists helped shaped the history of art in Detroit. If you have the opportunity to visit New York and check out their work, you’ll enjoy it. They give minority artists a voice as well as ownership of the stories that they experienced while living in the city.
