The long-awaited grand opening of The Beacon Park takes place July 20, 2017 and there are a lot of fun activities planned for the weekend. Among the most exciting is live music featuring Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Thornetta Davis, and Lord Huron as well as a screening of the movie Back to the Future with photo opportunities to follow with a real DeLorean, the iconic car from the movie.
The weekend-long activities offer plenty of variety and shows off the versatility of the space. A new park of this caliber is always exciting to visit. There’s plenty of ways to get acquainted with it, too.
A Park for Everyone to Use and Enjoy
The sprawling 1.5-acre park is packed with things for people of all ages to do. From a restaurant to dine in to walking trails and performance space to use, there is something entertaining for everyone. Food trucks are encouraged to set up in the parking lot and take advantage of the flow of traffic in and out of the park.
Visitors can spend the entire day in the park if they choose. It built with that intention. In fact, there is so much to do there that it’s expected to draw big crowds of people who want to relax, exercise, and spend some time soaking up the sun.
Over a Million Visitors are Expected to Come to the Park Each Year
An estimated 1 million visitors a year are expected to come to the park. The Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) has over 600 events planned this year along with the DTE. That’s a whole lot of fun that you and the family get to have in 2017.
A real crowd pleaser, The Beacon Park will get a lot of use as people become accustomed to where it is and everything that it offers. If you’re looking for some family-friendly fun this weekend, attend the grand opening of the park to see what you think!
Let others know that you’re going on Facebook. You have the option of letting your friends list see that you’re attending the grand opening. All you have to do is click on the option that says, “Going”.
