The fifth of May is a big one this year! The stars have aligned to have Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby on the same day, on a Saturday no less! So whether you and your friends are thirsty for ice cold mint juleps or maybe some margaritas/micheladas we have you covered on all the May 5th happenings around Detroit and beyond!

Derby Parties

Green Dot Stables - Party starts at 3 pm and will feature live bluegrass band, The Kufflinks.

Stache International- Stache will have food and drink specials, and prizes to win!

The Skip - Come party in The Belt! Show off your finest Derby outfits to win prizes and obviously drink specials are HAPPENING.

Atwater Brewery - Dress to impress and get $3 select pints.

Thomas McGee’s Sporting House - Party starts at 3 pm with drink specials.

Firebird Tavern - They hand-picked a barrel of Woodford Reserve for their Derby party.

Tap at MGM Grand - Serving Founder’s KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) for the occasion!

Charles H Wright Museum - Derby party. General admission is $40, VIP is $85 which includes premium open bar and buffet. Sounds like a pretty good deal to us!

Roostertail - Party with a purpose! Their goal is to fundraise, empower, celebrate womanhood, and fellowship in high style, while providing financial support to local charities in Metro Detroit. $85-125.

Motor City Gas (Royal Oak) - Doors open at 2 pm with a bourbon sweet tea special.

Cellarmen’s (Hazel Park) - Say no more than a special release of a bourbon barrel-aged mead and Derby Pie stout.

JoeBar (Hazel Park) - Party starts at 2 pm with free shuttles to Hazel Park Raceway from 4-7 pm! They will have friendly in-house wagering, plenty of special food and drinks and bonus prizes for those dressed for occasion!

Cinco Bash Pub Crawl (Ferndale) - Party starts at 1 pm, $15-25 for a lanyard giving access to drink specials at participating bars.

Sugar House - Original cocktails crafted with Patron tequilas and Mexican inspired lite bites from Gratiot Avenue Provisions.

Southwest Detroit Taco Tour - Make up your own taco tour through Mexicantown! Our fave spots for tac’s and all-around delicious Mexican cuisine are Taqueria El Rey, Taqueria Lupitas, Taqueria Nuestra Familia, El Nacimiento and El Asador!

Las Palapas (Livonia) - Will have live music, an ice luge, kid-friendly celebrations. Last year they had a 17 hour party, so if you’re near Livonia this might be the place to be!
